Dr. Wendy Book
Dr. Wendy Book is the Directory of the Adult Congenital Heart Defect Center at the Emory Clinic and the Principal Investigator of the Surveillance of Congenital Heart Defects across the Lifespan project at Emory University.
Dr. Carol Hogue
Dr. Carol Hogue is the Director of the women and Children’s Center in the Department of Epidemiology in the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and is a co-Investigator on the Surveillance on the Congenital Heart Defects across the Lifespan project.
Dr. Rusty Rodriguez
Dr. Rodriguez is a congenital adult and pediatric CHD clinician and a co-investigator on the Surveillance of Congenital Heart Defects across the Lifespan project.
Cheryl Raskind-Hood
Cheryl Raskind-Hood is a Senior Research Associate Faculty in the Department of Epidemiology in the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and is a co-Investigator on the Surveillance on the Congenital Heart Defects across the Lifespan project.
Dr. Laurie Gaydos
Dr. Gaydos has extensive experience in mixed methods research in maternal and child health. As a mixed-methods researcher, she has extensive experience in developing and implementing qualitative research projects, particularly in-depth interviews and focus groups as required for this project. She also has experience training others to conduct focus groups and analyze the data. In a recent project for the Georgia Department of Public Health, she developed a qualitative data collection and analysis plan and trained 20 focus group facilitators to implement the research protocols and conduct the focus groups. She teaches students how to conduct qualitative and mixed methods studies. For this project, she will work closely with the team to ensure that focus group data collection processes follow standard practice and are appropriate for the study. She will provide training and oversight for analysis of the data collected during the focus groups. She currently serves as the Associate Chair for Academic affairs of the Executive MPH Program in the Rollins School of Public Health.
Dr. Carolyn Miller Reilly
Dr. Reilly is Assistant Professor of Nursing at Emory University. She has experience and expertise to successfully lead the development of the educational modules for families and healthcare providers on the Surveillance of CHD across the Lifespan project. Dr. Reilly serves on several funded studies focusing on patient/family education and quality of life. She understands the need to engage the CHD population on their level, via means that are useful and meaningful. Additionally she has the experience to pilot test the educational content, modules, and delivery technique with a diverse population of previous research participants.
Trenton Hoffman
Trenton assists in the cleaning of raw datasets and in maintenance of linked datasets. He provides coding expertise in the refinement of database architecture and continued expansion of the database. He will also assist in the extraction of CHD data from the Emory Clinical Data Warehouse and REDCap and will interface with other data source providers to ensure accuracy and quality of data received. As needed, he will assist in data reporting. He brings coding experience in R, Python, SQL and SAS with three years of experience in database management. Additionally, he possesses a Master’s degree in Biology and nearly a decade of laboratory experience.
